Gaming on your tablet will never be the same again

Since tablets have become mainstream, so too, are service providers looking for different ways to make sure your experience on the tablet platform remains all the more engaging, and Exent has this particular vision of enabling anytime, anywhere game play. They took another step further towards that vision by unveiling the only all–you-can-play subscription service specially for tablets. Imagine unlimited game play of dozens of the hottest games on Android, ranging from Fruit Ninja to Baseball Superstars and T-Racer HD.

This launch will see Exent’s GameTanium service extend across all of the leading consumer electronics platforms, where we are talking about PCs, smartphones, TVs and tablets.

The continued growth spurts of tablet sales is really encouraging for Exent, and they intend to capitalize on this phenomenon by extending their GameTanium Mobile service to the tablet market. Touted to be an easy one-stop-shop that allows one to fill up whatever remaining storage space you have left on the tablet, you won’t find shovelware in there, but rather, quality titles.

If you are a game publisher, GameTanium also works in your favor as it delivers a rich channel that offers their games across multiple platforms, and that includes increasing the life of games and royalties that games earn. With GameTanium’s exclusive catalog and merchandizing expertise, premium pricing is also another factor that could elevate the publisher’s profile by making sure superior games remain right at the top above all the dross.

Zvi Levgoren, CEO at Exent, says, “The GameTanium tablet offering is yet another step in our anytime, anywhere gameplay vision. We now offer our world-leading Games on Demand service across all of the platforms necessary to enable games to be played wherever, whenever and however consumers want to play them. As a result, the service represents a great opportunity for carriers to engage their customers on a more meaningful and ultimately, more profitable level and for game publishers to drive their games more deeply into players’ lives.”

Cops wear Body Mounted Cameras – Say Cheese!

You see it everyday, a police officer involved in some sort of a scuffle that’s been recorded on someone’s Smartphone. It almost always makes the officer look bad. I watch these events unfold on my TV almost every night, and I wonder to myself, what happened BEFORE someone started recording? I mean, surely the “bad guy” wasn’t just walking down the street minding his own business…

Well, in towns all over the country, we wont be left to wonder anymore, cops in many places nationwide have been outfitted with tiny wearable cameras. Unlike the often observed dashboard cameras, these little guys can be worn on a collar, head mount or with the Taser unit shown above, even mounted on Oakley sunglasses. These devices will capture everything from the police officers point of view, not just at the point that some spectator decided to start recording. Police simply activate the device and begin recording evidence that will negate any disputes as to what actually happened.

Most of these HD digital micro-cameras are about 2 inches long, an inch wide and are voice activated. Compatible with Android and iOs, all recordings made by these cameras are date and time stamped and cannot be altered or erased and designed to preserve chain of custody concerns, although the officer is most often in charge of initially activating the camera, and they also have the ability to turn it off. On TV when the camera goes off, its never a good thing, is it?

So is moving towards a body worn camera for all officers a good idea? Does it put the officers in danger or do more to protect the public? Some folks feel that cameras will lead to better performance and more professionalism on the job, others feel it will safeguard against bogus lawsuits, still others feel as though its a violation of privacy on both sides. The jury is still out on this one for me… but I think you’re going to see them around your town all the same.

LG Optimus 4X HD sports four cores within

LG hails yet another first with their latest smartphone announcement – the LG Optimus 4X HD that will be the company’s maiden attempt at a quad-core smartphone. Merging the latest NVIDIA 1.5GHz Tegra 3 chipset inside with a True HD IPS display on the outside, you can be quite sure that the LG Optimus 4X HD will be able to roll out PC-like performance right from the comfort of your own palm. Of course, that is stretching the imagination a little bit, but unless your PC activities comprise mostly of just checking email and typing a document once in a long, long while, then the LG Optimus 4X HD would certainly be an ideal candidate to consider if you want to update your smartphone.

According to Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company, “LG introduced the world’s first Dual-Core smartphone exactly one year ago and today we’re announcing the next milestone. But speed in itself isn’t what makes LG Optimus 4X HD unique, it’s the benefit we’re bringing to customers with the HD multimedia experience in a mobile form factor.”

Just what makes the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor so special? For starters, it is the world’s only 4-PLUS-1 Quad-Core mobile processor that was specially designed for high-level multimedia performance, and to sweeten the deal, it comes with a fifth batterysaver core that allows it to handle less demanding tasks including active standby and music playback. When you want to push it to the maximum though, the 12-core graphics processing unit (GPU) in Tegra 3 are more than capable of stepping up to the task, delivering a visually rich experience and console-quality game playability.

As for the True HD IPS display that we talked about earlier, the Optimus 4X HD is said to guarantee the finest viewing experience with high resolution, clarity and your eyes need not “suffer” from color or shape distortion. 16GB of internal memory will ship with the Optimus 4X HD, where it will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich so you need not wait for an update right out of the box. A 8-megapixel BSI (Backside Illumination) Sensor camera with LED flash ought to make this one truly desirable smartphone – now to wait for a price and availability announcement.

AT&T delivers Samsung Rugby Smart next month

Is it just me, or do you feel that consumer electronic devices these days do not really live up to their predecessors’ durability? I mean, back in the days of our grandparents and parents, the fridge lasted for umpteenth years, and will probably still continue to work. Fast forward to today, and you have a fridge that seemingly dies out a couple of days after the warranty on it expires. Having said that, smartphones are not exactly the most durable handset in the world, either – so it is a good thing to be careful with them wherever you are, lest you suffer from a butterfingers moment.

This has led to an explosive growth of third party accessories for the smartphone and tablet markets, but how about incorporating a little bit of ruggedness into a handset? This is exactly what Samsung has done with their latest creation which they call the Samsung Rugby Smart. I guess this is a sequel to the Samsung Rugby which was released in 2010, so let us take a closer look at it in the extended post.

The Samsung Rugby Smart is one tough cookie, where it complies to 810F military specifications that include Dust, Humidity, Rain, Shock and Temperature resistance, allowing you to dunk the Rugby Smart into water (no more than 1 meter in depth) for up to half an hour without causing it to fizzle out, while the entire phone is also able to survive in extreme temperatures without missing a beat. The 3.7″ WVGA Super AMOLED touchscreen display ought to be enough for everyday use and perhaps to even watch the occasional movie, while a 5-megapixel at the back is capable of High Definition movie recording. Want to hold a video call? That is not a problem with a 1.3-megapixel shooter up in front. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and HSPA+.

The Samsung Rugby Smart will arrive on AT&T this March 4th at $99.99 a pop, after committing to a 2-year agreement, of course. No idea on whether Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be offered as an update down the road or not, as it comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread right out of the box.

LG Google TV to debut at CES 2012

The large amount of the arrivals has been introduced. In a serial of the latest and new invention the Cool tv series is also not to be missed. CES 2012 will offer a smorgasbord of gizmos and gadgets that are sure to drive geeks and curious onlookers alike wild, and we will have coverage on the ground thanks to Mark. With so many gadgets to discover in just four days, it would require a well planned journey to make sure that all the major points have been covered, barring the free beer and food that are served at Showstoppers and the Digital Experience. LG has announced that CES 2012 will be the platform where they roll out the LG Smart TV with Google TV, merging the familiarity of Google’s Android OS with the convenience and comfort of LG’s 3D and Smart TV technologies so that you are able to enjoy a whole new and attractive home entertainment option.

Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company, has this to say, “LG has constantly strived to provide consumers with wider choices in home entertainment that bring the highest level of sophistication and convenience. Through Google TV, LG has merged Google’s established Android operating system with LG’s proven 3D and Smart TV technologies, offering consumers a new and enthralling TV experience.”

One of the strongest suits for LG’s Google TV would be its ease of use, which is made possible courtesy of the combination of its Android-based user interface alongside and the Magic Remote QWERTY that was designed by LG. LG’s Google TV’s user interface as well as its main screen have been designed to ensure one can enjoy convenient browsing and content selection. Love to multi-task? That is not a problem, since it will also run alongside search, social networking and TV functions simultaneously. You can access the user interface through the Magic Remote QWERTY that merges the user-friendly benefits of LG’s Magic Remote with a QWERTY keyboard.

Not only that, LG’s own CINEMA 3D technology will also help Google TV deliver a home entertainment experience which is immersive, comfortable and convenient, right smack in the middle of your living room. All you need is a robot that serves you beer at your beck and call, and the ability to have it make sandwiches would also work in your favor. No idea on how much the LG Google TV would cost, but do expect to drop some serious coin if you are an early adopter. Such a nice hah.

Motion Activated Candy Dispenser

Who does not like candy at all? I am quite sure that dentists secretly love candy deep down inside, simply because their clientele would be far fewer in number if kids do not have easy and unrestricted access to candy these days. Well, unwrapping sweets and chocolates is something that we do often, but there is always a strange fascination with a candy dispenser as automated movement is always interesting to look at (and figure out, for budding engineers). A hand-dispensing feature might be the old school method of doing so, but it certainly is far less hygienic compared to the $39.99 Motion Activated Candy Dispenser.

Being the perfect device for kitchen counters, reception desks and common break rooms, there is a built-in sensor to ensure no grubby or dirty hands will contaminate the stash inside. Purchase a few and you can opt to dispense a range of candies. Too bad it comes in only one color – black, and there is a spill tray to catch the ones which you miss. Just make sure there are enough AA batteries (a quartet is required to run it) available as backup just in case it runs out of juice. Nice invention hah.

Glofish – Patented Easy to Care for Fun

The various products are all around with us for the new looks with a new appearance Last Christmas I was searching for that special gift for my daughter and I was looking for something that would be a little more magical than your average wind up toy, or board game. Of course she wanted a puppy or a rat. I tried to find a compromise and I think I found something pretty cool, while its not a rat, it is quite beautiful to behold and easy to care for. We set it up this weekend.

Welcome Glofish, really amazing fish originally bred to help scientists detect environmental pollutants( that add vibrant color and excitement to your tank.) These little fish are flourescent and seem to retain the light, or glow. When coupled with a special blacklight aquarium, the effect is nothing short of psychadelic. While they are as easy to care for as regular fish, there isnt anyone who hasnt seen the tank and been mesmerized.

Glofish are unique, and their sale is covered by a number of patents and pending patent applications, so unfortunately at the present time these fish are only available in the United States (except California) The fish are available in Starfire red, Sunburst orange, Electric green, Cosmic blue and the new Galactic purple. The fish are available online or in-store at select retailers, check petsmart.com to see the fish, available for around 5 bucks a piece.

For the ultimate display of your new friends you may want to opt for a Glofish aquarium, optimized with special color enhancing LEDs that dramatically enhance the look of your fish and are available from amazon.com for around 42 dollars.

So we love our new aquarium and she uses it like a nightlight, enjoying her glow in the dark fish.. but we all know she still wants a rat. Right? Nice no.

The Descender – Never be “board” again

The sports item is almost the feb of any onece. In a line of the new design with the sports I am a big fan of Winter, I love the snow and everything that comes with it, like sledding, skiing and skating. Truth be told, I often get a little sad when it becomes obvious that the last flakes have fallen. It means I need to wait another year to feel the wind in my face as I fly down a hill, only to run back up, breathless and ready for my next ride… well this year I wont have to wait…

Welcome our friends over at Rockboard, who have taken boarding to an all new level with the totally never before seen ”Descender”, the very first of its kind! It’s not a sled, its not a skateboard and it features some innovative high-performance treads never before applied to the boarding experience, this unique cross-over board bridges the gap for summer and winter outdoor sports enthusiasts and enables riders to “surf” down grass and all-terrain hills.

With its four treads wrapped around triple sets of wheels, designed for maximum traction and power, The Descender extends the fun of snowboarding and surfing into every season. The Descender officially measures to be 31” x 10” x 5” and it can hold riders up to around 200 lbs.

So not only does the “Descender” LOOK amazingly different than anything you’ve ever seen, it opens up a whole new world of exciting downhill opportunities. I guess spring doesnt seem so bad after all, since thats when The Descender will be available, so watch for it in a store near you… its gonna be big. Woo-hoo!

Padintosh Case for iPad 2

The cool invention is the cool for the new generation. Your iPad 2 is one of your more cherished devices, so why not go the extra mile to make sure it is offered adequate protection? After all, since you are using an Apple product, it would also make sense to have something Apple-related to protect it. The £19.99 Padintosh Case for iPad 2 would fit the bill nicely, where it will not only help keep your iPad 2 safe from knocks, bumps as well as the occasional drop, it also instantly brings you back in time into the early days of Apple. We are talking about 1984 here, as the Padintosh Case for iPad 2 certainly looks extremely similar to Apple’s groundbreaking Macintosh computer of yore.

There is a clip on case that makes it perfect to protect your tablet as it is in transit, while ensuring it remains free from scuffs and knocks. Not only that, it will play nice with the Smart Cover, and when the situation calls for it, you are able to prop it up so that you can look as though you are happily tapping away on a classic from another era. Wow nice hah.
